I hope that you will see a specialist who deals with musicians'
injuries. My daughter, a violinist, had severe pain in her left hand and
shoulder for 3 years. She saw sports medicine specialists, physical
therapists and orthopedic surgeons, all with no relief. One even suggested
she play a different instrument. Finally last fall she went to the
Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago where they have a department that deals
with musicians' injuries. She was told to bring her violin along
(something the others never suggested) and spent the day with doctors and
physical therapists. Since then she has had little pain. It was worth the
expense and I only wish she had gone there sooner.
I have been experiencing some pain in my right wrist over the past
year and it seems related to time on the computer, as well as, I'm afraid,
old age. Using a neckstrap and switching the computer mouse to my left
hand have helped alot (yes you can do it---it just takes some practice).
