Not if you don't have pads, or have no idea what you're doing. Actually, I
had thought that the saran wrap idea was easier to implement. From the
sounds of it, it is every bit as difficult as repadding (or driving to
tech's house). Anyone who wants to publish a few notes on "Repairs the
Amateur Can Do" would be doing me a big favor. I know for my [new] Selmer,
if I knew how to readjust the height of my register key, I'd get some
decent throat tones. For some of my older horns, reseating one or two pads
could mean hours more of pleasure for me. As things exist, the instrument
sits in the case until I get the bucks to take it to a pro.
