Jennifer,
the rules are pretty basic. You don't know many of us personally, yet
write as if we understand your "tone of voice". You stated strong
opinions ("rip-off","no pros would ever use") that don't seem to
be based on any factual circumstances. You spoke to over 600 people
with varied experiences, some with many more years under their belt.
Yet - you are surprised that people disagreed strongly with you?

Would you have said the same thing, in the same words, in front of
a major clarinet convention? I think not. You would have known that
such extreme statements, made without research, would have caused
an outcry. Toning down the statements (e.g., "the xxxx's were much
better", "the xxxx clarinets were not worth even the little I paid",
are much easier to defend. They leave "wiggle" room, enough to use
the good ol' term "in my experience". You gave us an absolute, and
many feel that such absolutes do not exist in this case.

I, for one, took great offense at "rip-off" - that's a very strong
term, one that shouldn't be bandied about lightly. I also knew, from
casual reading of Klarinet, that the Noblet _was_ used by pros - thus
my reaction: you don't know your subject matter, or didn't review your
message before posting.
