There was a push last year to have the mail-order companies charge
the sales tax for out-of-state orders; it never came up for a vote
due to pressure from the mail-order companies, but it's still
kicking around.

In any case, in the U.S., you _are_ liable for any taxes due your
state even if you order via mail-order; here in Michigan there is
a line on the state form especiall for that number. Whether or
not you fill it in is up to your conscience and ability to stand an
audit.

Which is the whole reason behind the states pushing for a law to
collect those taxes at the selling end ...

_Your_ state _may_ exempt out-of-state mail order purchases -
in my recollection none did, but that was before I was taking
vitamin E :)

As to foreign shipments - I'm _sure_ customs gets into it!
