Try this:

Have the player use the mouthpiece only and tongue notes. While she is playing,
have her hold her lower jaw. Ask her to describe what she feels. Then have her
do this while trying to move only the tongue. Ask her to describe the
difference. She can then use this same tonguing exercise as a remedial drill
until she breaks the "jawing" habit. This can also be used as a periodic
refresher if the old habit tries to come back.
