Subj: Rovner Eddie Daniels II ligature

I wanted to get a new ligature and currently have an old Rovner Dark,
and a inverted Bonade with the middle part of the rails cut out.

Went to http://www.sneezy.org/clarinet to see what others are using,
then went to Rovner's web site and thought that the Eddie Daniels
ligature looked interesting, with its rails for the reed (a la Bonade)
as well as the side rails to float the ligature off the mouthpiece (a la
Gigliotti).

What I received yesterday was the Eddie Daniels II, an improved model,
significant differences listed below:

1. No more side rails to float the ligature off the mouthpiece
2. Rails for the reed are curved inward, rather than outward
3. Comes with 2 different size metal inserts that slide in under the
rails for the reed
4. Flaps on either side of the reed rails can be set to go over or under
the reed rails
5. Instructions state that there are 12 different configurations of
inserts and flaps

Haven't even tried the new ligature yet, and will post observations when
I do.

Comments?
