I sent this message in November and Laroy has had very few inquiries. I
would appreciate any feedback from everyone as to why there seems to be
so little interest in puchasing a CD containing exciting new music and
great performances. Is the cost a negative factor? Or what?

Please send your replies to me at <stanalan@-----. Thanks!

Subject: Music from the I.C.A. '96 CD Recording Project available

Klarinet readers:

The "Music from the I.C.A. '96 CD is now available. I received my copy
earlier this week. It contains the following clarinet music:

"Kaleidoscope" for clarinet & piano by James Fry - Elizabeth Rheude

"Lignon" for unaccompanied clarinet by Paul M. Douglas - Arthur Campbell

"Three Sketches", Op. 44/2 by Augustin Kubizek - The Prestige Quartet,
Kimberly Boardman, John Kurokowa, Elsa Tung-Wing Lam, Sarah Nowlin

"Air" for solo clarinet by Philip Collins - James Freeman

"Imitations" by Sebastian Currier - Nathan Williams

"Lexington Trio", Op. 151 for basset horns by Norman Heim - Trio
Chalumeaux: Cindy, Don, and Michael Christensen

The liner note from I.C.A. past-president F. Gerard Errante says: "The
International Clarinet Association is pleased to release the first disc
in its newly established CD Recording Project. The purpose of this
project, open to all I.C.A. members, is to record significant music for
the clarinet which is not readily available in the current commercially
recorded repertoire." ......"The members of [the CD Recording Project]
this distinguished committee are Eric Mandat, Chair, Larry Combs,
Mitchell Lurie, and Bradley Wong. Also, congratulations to the
clarinetists included on this disc for their fine artistry. This is an
auspicious beginning to a series of recordings that will constitute an
important contribution to the clarinet community."

Interested? Send a message to Laroy Borchert at the Department of Music,
New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM 88003.

Cost is $13, plus $2 postage for U.S., Canada and Mexico
$13, plus $4 postage for all other countries.

Laroy's e-mail address is: lborcher@-----.edu

This is a fine recording and I would encourage you to order a copy.
College and university clarinetists could request an order for their
library or listening lab.

Regards to all! Alan Stanek
