I love these Eb clarinet threads! This is one place where I can talk
about the instrument and not have it called "cheapie" or "silly". (Words
of my fellow All-Staters at my school, trumpet players)

My school owns 2 Eb clarinets. There is a Leblanc Concerto Eb that is
pretty new, and a Noblet that is about eight years old. When I was sick,
I had the great opportunity to concentrate on my Eb playing and
fundamentals. It was a wonderful experience, and I played the Noblet for
the first time. I really love it. I wouldn't go back to playing the
Concerto Eb for a just about anything. The Noblet just seems to suit me
better. It is a wonderful instrument and you would be smart to check one
out if you decide to purchase one. I have heard great things about
Patricolas, but I'm not really sure they can top my experience with the
Noblet.

As a side note, as I was able to practice more and more often, I was able
to build up enough confidence and just barely enough stamina to try out
for All-State band on the Eb clarinet (I earned a spot on both the eefer
and the Bb, but because I was sick and had very limited practice
sessions, I chose to try out on the Eb). I made it, and will be in San
Antonio February 11-14 a healthy and happy clarinet player! If there are
any of you who will also be at the TMEA conference and would like to meet
a fellow Klarinet list member, or just know that you know the Eb
clarinettist in one of those bands, just e-mail me at
benevolent1@-----.

Have a wonderful day!
