He must be quite elderly by now; in the pictures of him in his book "The
Clarinet" circa 197? he appears to be in his 60s.
I would love to be able to drop him a line; that book, found essentially
by accident in a mall bookstore, probably did more to transform me from a
mediocre junior high student into someone who actually cared about being
a clarinetist. In reading about the history of the instrument and his
take on intonation and interpretation, it was so clear that he knew more
on the subject than my band director...
