I have been practising the studies of Klose, Baermann and Rose
for about twelve years..and as I approached a new Rose study but
again last night (I must have spent hours upon hours of my life
trying to learn his studies over the years for conservatory exams)
I realized I know nothing about who these people actually were and
how their work entered the clarinet canon. Did Klose come before
Baermann..or was Baermann the first?

I tried to look them up in a music dictionary that I own but there
was no mention of all three!

I wonder if anyone knows a good book to read on the subject..plus
the history of the development of clarinet study books..Or if
anyone can provide any information on the historical order of
these people and how they have become such an important part of
so many of our lives. What would the life of a clarinettist be like
with Mr. Rose?
