Ten days ago, Bill Fogle asked about a Leblanc L7 Bb Soprano clarinet. =

I have one, serial number 29407, purchased new in High School for $450 in=

1967 or 1968. (This may revise Bill's statement about the 1975 date on h=
is
-- what is the serial number on that one?) Mine has silver plated keys. =

There's an "L7" embossed on a mother of pearl circle on the upper joint. =
=

I can't say the wood looks any different from that which you'd see on oth=
er
grenadilla clarinets. I agree with his observation that the clarinet is
very flexible, and I always found it easier to play than the R13s that I
would occasionally try that are owned by friends in the various bands I
played in.

Because I liked the way it played, it was a long time in replacing it. I=

finally retired it with the purchase of a Rossi a year ago.

BTW, on another thread, why isn't Mr. Brandenberg in Santa Cruz playing o=
ne
of the Brandenberg concertos? :-) =

Re the comment on the Vancouver Wind Trio, I thoroughly enjoyed their
Sacramento concert, performed to about 2,000 well-satisfied customers. =

Also enjoyed meeting Lorne Buick of this list, whose terrific playing,
witty comments (and gratis CD) made for a wonderful evening.

Ed Lowry
Sacramento.
