I own a recording (4 sides, 12" 78-rpm acoustically recorded) of Arthur
Pryor's Band playing the William Tell Overture. The last side (the "Lone
Ranger" section) is utterly amazing. They take it at typical orchestral
tempo, and it is virtually flawless (only one audible clarinet squeak). In
those days you couldn't fix it later, either! My hat is off to anyone who
can hack it! Or get through it at all without collapsing, gasping for breath!

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
