My all time favorite clarinet parts are:
Dahl "Sinfonietta" - My great story to this piece is that when I
was first at UW-Madison in the 70's I did my band audition in a practice
room for H. Robert Reynolds and Gene Corporon and the sight reading piece
was the last page (tutti clarinet section solo) of the first movement to
Sinfonietta. At the time, I didn't have any idea who Reynolds and Corporon
were so that didn't have any affect on my playing.
For a fantastic bass clarinet part look at "Skating on the
Cheyenne" by Ross Lee Finey. For Eb there's the Holst "Hammersmith" - can
you play the triplet solo in one breath? It's written for two Eb's but
I've never played it with two.
