Holst Suites for Military Band. There's one in F and one in Eb, IIRC.
Don't be fooled by the title; these would not be confused with Sousa
marches. It would take a better musicologist than I to do justice to
their description, but suffice it to say they are real concert band
pieces from the ground up by a noted composer (greatest hit: The
Planets). I find them very emotionally stirring. And your brassy band
director will like the low brass intro...
