A friend of mine here at NMSU directed me to an excellent website on the
net: www.discountreed.com.

They sell reeds and accessories for woodwinds at almost ludicrous prices!
I couldn't believe what I was seeing:
A box of Vandie Hand Select for $26
Vandie V12's for $17
Zonda's (box of five) for $9
And Hemke's (for you sax players like me) for $7.60 a box!

My friend has already purchased several boxes of reeds from this place,
and he tells me that they are the same reeds that you buy from retailers
or catalogues; they aren't rejects or anything like that...

Just thought I'd share the good fortune...

Also, a question for you sax players out there:

For classical, I'm partial to Hemke's, but I use Vandoren V16's for Jazz.
I like the V16's a lot, but I'm seeing a lot of new 'jazz' reeds on the
market now: Vandoren Java, Rico Jazz Select, etc...have any of you tried
and compared these newer reeds with the V16's? How do they stack up?

(And in case it may matter, I play on a Ritchie Cole Meyer 5M Alto Mpc.)
