Does anyone know a little about Leblanc's instruments? I have an L7 (Bb)
probably manufactured around 1975. I find it a curious instrument (I don't
play it often). I can't make up my mind what I think of it. Physically, the
wood is very oiled (as opposed to the visible bores in Buffets) and shiney,
with a noticable "mahogany" pigmentation. The keys appear to be chrome,
although the original purchase literature (I am the second owner) states
that they are nickel/silver. Musically, the clarinet is very, very
flexible. My perception is that it is "easy" to play. I find myself, for
instance in a play through Brahms' second sonata, able to create the
cantabile I find much more difficult on my R-13. My friend says, when
asked, that the instrument sounds "woody." His word.
