Neil,

A year ago I would have agreed with you completely. All five of my Zonda
"freeds" died within a month. Fast forward one year. After hearing so many
folks on the list remark that Zondas might need some additional care to break
in properly, I took them out of the drawer and started to play them again.
After "aging" for a year in a drawer, they are MAGNIFICENT. I can play a
3-hour dress rehearsal followed by a 2-hour concert and never sense the
slightest hint of fading. Whether the cane just needed to be aged a bit
longer, I don't know. But I did nothing more than let them sit in a drawer
for a year. I'm of that "PLAY or DIE" school of reed selection.
