Kalmus in Miami sells indiviual parts to the eniter (not-in-copyright)
literature, I regret not having their address. Joseph Patelson Music in
Manhattan has tons of individual parts, I picked up the bass clarinet
part to Ravel's Rhapsodyt Espagnole there last year just for the hell of
it.

Not having individual parts can be suicide. I once played an English
horn audition for the Delaware Symphony. The other finalist, who shall
be unnamed, is now a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra's oboe
section. ANyway, I won the audition, even over so prominent and
wonderful a player, because we were asked to do Berlioz Roman
Carnival--we both prepared the Big Solo, but only I had seen the tutti
passages that take the English horn up to highest E quite a challenge
for that instrument), and he screwed them up, but I didn't.

I think you already answered your own question! Seriously, if you can
get
the parts, it is always preferable. You can order actual printed parts
from Luck's Music Library (check Sneezy for an address) for a reasonable
price. Most of my parts are photocopies from various orchestra
libraries;
I think that since they're for private use, it's OK. At least, I don't
think any copyright lawyers are going through my music files while I'm
practicing.
