A dollar bill works reasonably well, but it doesn't get the water out of
the tone hole - it only cleans the surface of the hole and pad. Blowing, if
you get the angle right, gets all the water out of the hole and is a lot
faster than finding a bill and using it. At least that's my experience. As
for strange looks... I've long since given up worrying about them! :-)
