At first, I was horrified by the comments of GT.?? about Mr. Leister. I
own a few recording including the his release of both Brahms Sonatas and I
truly enjoy them both. I find Mr. Leister to bring interesting ideas to
these works. Aside from his sound (which GT ?... dismisses out of hand) his
ideas of line are fantastic and finely planed.

I write this not because Mr Leister needs my opinion, but to shed some
light on this, and I have seen this on the list before at least once. We
are
all active clarinetist, we play, (I have played four full recitals in the
last 2 years and play principal with the Central Valley Symphony here in
Ca.) or teach, ( I teach privately and also high school band) or are very
interested avocets of clarinet playing or listening, and I do not know one
person on this list who would make such thoughtless statements about another
clarinetist.

My point is this... until GT. steps out of the shadows of anonymously posted
tripe, we should all do well to disregard his so-called comments on
recording musicians.
