I like to play every day the something like Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem
Felsen (right now that's what I am playing). That grounds me in making a
good matched sound and reminds me that I am thinking about line always.
Then I try to bring that idea to the scales (Baermann type scales where you
play the full range of the scale) working on even matching tones. Then, I
spend time on the Kroepsch Daily Exercises... (mostly to keep up with my
students... ) After that I am ready for playing...
