Hey, I played the contra bass in my high school band ;last year ans I came
across the same problem. There is a special reed for the contrabass, but I had
a hard time finding one, like I didn't find any. I ended up buying some barri
sax reeds and cutting off about a half an inch off the end. i was afraid that
it would mess up the reed, but it seemed to work okay. My friend who plays the
contrabass this year is doing the same thing. Hope it works out!
