Don't feel bad. We are talking about some extremely rapid opening and
closing (hundreds or thousands of times/second, depending on pitch). You'd
have to be awfully sensitive to notice that!

I was thinking the other day, speculating on this business. I wonder if
the flabby tone caused by a too soft reed is because, with its limited
resistance, it does indeed spent more time closed off, and slaps the
mouthpiece too violently when it does close? Just my own theory.
