At least one scholarly reference is wrong, since that's where I get the
material :) I'll correct it.

American Music Publishers is a distributor for Schott in
this instance, which is why it's listed.

The publisher field on the sneezy catalog lists all publishers
and distributors of record, and, in many cases (not this one)
copyrights have been granted, revoked, bought, and sold. I
traced one with a composer since he claimed that he was the
only one with rights to distribution. Seems he granted and
revoked a copyright within 6 months. The copyright holder
for that time period printed his piece, along with transferring
the rights to printing the music to yet another publisher.
The composer wasn't cheated, but was trying to figure out where
I had come up with multiple publishers for his piece!

Tracing down some of the publishers has put me in contact with
a number of modern composers (the 'net is grand for finding
people - but it does take some time!) and _each and every one_
has been gratious and courteous to me. Some have become
personal e-mail friends (Charlie Argersinger send me a CD of
his work as a surprise Christmas gift!). In some of our Klarinet
discussions I've seen people talk about some composition by a
living composer and ask "what about this or that?". It's not
too hard to track most modern composers down - many are teaching
and faculty e-mail lists are pretty much public, and others
can be reached via the auspices of the contry of interest's
Music Cent(er/re). (hey - I live next to Canada and I sure as
heck don't know which way is right anymore :) I tell the
composers where their entry is and ask them to please write
any program notes or other items of interest about their
compositions.

Thanks for the correction and cheers!
