KLEENEX

My optometrist, instead of selling me a special liquid and wipers for my
glasses, told me to use Kleenex but to make sure and first wet the
glasses with water. Then there would less friction. So far, I have no
scratches on my spectacles, which are not made of glass.

When you consider using Kleenex, the mouthpiece is wet inside and the
kleenex would just absorb the moisture and not be abrasive.

If to talk about abrasives on a mouthpiece, how about the pupils (and
many pros also) who slide the reeds on and off the mouthpiece, without
removing the ligature first. Imagine trying reeds like that.
That is an abrasive action if there ever was one. I tell my pupils not
to do that. But habits die hard.

By the way, even if one uses a swab to clean a mouthpiece, put the
forefinger on the tip so that the tip does not get "rubbed" away.
