Glad that I got such a response to a provocative message.
Yes anyone can say anything they like in a democracy and as such I'm =
entitled to put forward my views publically. There was no need for Mr =
Lacy to write to me privately in this case.I'm happy to talk about =
anything but the seemingly endless fountain of twaddle talked about this =
subject can become intrusive in a public forum.
In contrast some of the correspondance regarding the VPO is very =
interesting.

Audiences and non clarinet players don't give two hoots whether you pull =
your mouthpiece out or not, nor will it help you play music any better.

What matters are technical details of how we can play music better.

Have you got a good fingering for that nasty bit at the end of Don =
Quixote or one maybe for the first entry of the second movement of =
Mahler 2? These are clarinetty things that can make a real difference to =
how we play music.

I hope that in a democracy where anything goes a certain amount of =
self-imposed quality control is desirable otherwise the benefit of a =
forum like this is compromised.

Many thanks for all the good bits here though.

Michael Whight=20
