Actually it is not a mindless topic. People need to have the most
complete information possible so that they can each choose how to take
care of their equipment compatible with their abilities and lifestyle.
I am glad to see people who care about their equipment. Good
mouthpieces, although not as expensive as the clarinet, are costly ($60
each AND UP) and it would be ridiculous to replace it yearly.

I do agree whole heartedly that musicians need to be flexible. Some
people do get so hung up on equipment, that they end up forgetting to
make music. When and if my mouthpiece wears out, I will just go out and
by one that is comparable and not worry about an exact match.

Every thread burns itself out sooner or later. Just be patient. Once I
asked a question about recording the clarinet and the thread went on so
long even I got tired of it, just briefely scanned, the remaining
messages, and deleted them without really reading them.
