I sheepishly admit that I've asked the list numerous times for
contact information rather than using telephone directory
assistance. It is cheaper after all, since using 555-1212
outside of one's area code does incur a fee.

Much more importantly, when such contact information is provided
publicly on the list, many members are exposed to repair shops, mail
order companies, mouthpiece makers, music publishers, and so many
other remarkable resources in the nation which they might not other-
wise know of. I've found this enormously helpful, and always make
sure to write down all such new information before deleting the
message. I've developed quite a nice Rolodex file of musical contacts
over the last five years simply by taking note of responses to simple
queries for information like that to which you just responded.
Thus, bear in mind that many members of the list are probably
quite appreciative of these seemingly obvious questions. And
this is an area where playing level is irrelevant. We can use
all the help we can get when it comes to having options with re-
gard to music repair shops in localized areas of the country
(i.e.; if I venture into that part of L.A., I know that I can
drop by Gilbert's Woodwinds for a quick box of reeds in a pinch).
You get the idea. It applies to music publishers and mouthpiece
refacers, etc. This is an area where Klarinet has proven to be
a wonderful resource, and I hope the exchanges of contact data
continues unabated.
