CAE-SU-RA
(si zhoor'a, si zyoor'a).
Noun. plural -ras, -rae.
(Latin- a cutting >pp. of caedre, to cut)
1. break or pause in a line of verse:
in Greek and Latin verse, the caesura falls with the metrical foot;
in English verse, it is usually about the middle of the line and is
shown in scanning by the sign //
2. a pause showing rhythmic division of a melody.
This is more than bargained for. I remember it being used by musicians
from Europe to indicate a cut.
There is another word that I remember: Kupyura, also a cut.
