I can assume that many, if not all, on the list would boycott, be
disgusted, etc., etc., with an orchestra that had a "not so hidden"
policy of not hiring african- americans.

My question is this:

Would you have the same reaction to an orchestra that held the same
policy concerning women? Why, why not?
