I have a model 342, the straighter tall version. I use a "Woodwind" brand
mouthpiece from the Woodwind and Brasswind. I also have the original
mouthpiece, but it is slightly bigger and normal contra-alto/contra-bass
reeds don't work very well with it. The only problem is finding a ligature
that is big enough. Even the Selmer CB ligature I bought won't really fit
properly. I'm going to try and make a velcro ligature and have seen someone
on the Contrabass list mention he used shoe laces to good effect.

In college, I played a paper-clip contra-alto, and just used the peg.
I had no problems controlling the instrument.
