Lou,

Just a small correction - the person you mention below is the late Robert
Vagner (not Wagner!). He was instrumental (no pun intended) in building
both the band and clarinet programs at University of Oregon between 1950
and 1977 (the year he retired). He has other little pamphlets out as
well, one published by Leblanc, one by Carl Fischer, etc....they are all
little gems if one can find them!

Vagner was one of the original Leblanc artist representatives.....that is,
before he went back to Buffet! He played on a Kasper mouthpiece with
Vandoren reeds.....was a TERRIFIC teacher, and was a fine conductor -
eventually became president of the College Band Directors National
Association......thing is, he maintained his performance ability on
clarinet right up to his retirement. When he died of Parkinson's disease
in the about 8 years ago, the music world lost a great person,
clarinetist, and wind expert.
