Subject: The Clarinet In Jazz Since 1945
To all interested folks and friends:
'Tis the season for jazz research website updates, and mine is no
exception. I have simultaneously done a major update on my clarinet essay,
and launched my own website.
In addition to the biographical essays, I've added pictures of most of the
musicians and streaming Realaudio sound samples for some of them, with more
on the way.
The following musicians are new additions to the site:
John LaPorta
Rolf Kuehn
Marty Ehrlich
Gunter Hampel
Joe Maneri
Plus, you can still read about these great players:
Jimmy Hamilton
Artie Shaw
Buddy DeFranco
Tony Scott
Jimmy Giuffre
Pee Wee Russell
Kenny Davern
Bill Smith
Perry Robinson
Alvin Batiste
John Carter
Eddie Daniels
Don Byron
Eric Dolphy
David Murray
I also intend to add Theo Jorgensmann, Louis Sclavis, Ken Peplowski, and
Hans Kumpf within the next year, once I find more time for research and
work on this thing. The URL for the clarinet essay is:
http://www.interactive.net/~msnyder/clarinet/clar1945.htm
The website also contains a few articles I've written on other jazz
musicians and topics over the past couple of years. Come visit and enjoy!
I hope all have a happy holiday and new year!
