I use a Rovner on my Bb. The mouthpiece is a plastic "jazz" Santy
Runyon 5 that plays for me. The ligature is for the e-flat clarinet as
the diameter is less than traditional. Not only position but the
degree to which it is tightened matters. I've not found a better
mouthpiece. It appears that someone has done hand-work to the
chamber/baffle. Possibly Mr. Runyon.
On my tenor saxophone I'm using an old lelandais retrieved
from a box of junk mouthpieces for $5. The opening is rather moderate,
almost no baffle and the chamber large. There's a silver ring at the
base. On the top in a square is AL and Paris. The AL is probably A.
Lelandis. Paris is in France. i'm guessing mid-thirties for a date.
Lelandais, now long out of business, also made reeds.
I'd love to stumble on an old box.
