I may have gotten this completely wrong myself, because it's been a very
long time since I've heard anyone talk about Lelandaise or even Chedeville
(except to say they've copied one for modern mass-production - like all the
violins that are labeled "Copy of Stradivarius" on the inside). My
recollection from others' comments is that it was the other way around -
Chedeville and others used Lelandaise blanks and did their own hand work on
them.
