Interesting.....I have never had my springs rust, but I only use the
DampIts occassionally - and all the time when I visited Clarinet Fest in
Arizona....one of my friends, Scott Wright, told me to do something or
leave the clarinets at home.....so I took his advice. You can oversoak
them....my wood began to swell up....so I learned to dampen them, wipe
them, and dry them a bit before putting them back in the case.

The cigar vials work well though.
