No offense meant, but this has really drifted quite a bit off-center. The
original post was about using the correct instrument to allow the
performer to play the notes Mozart wrote.....not to guess at what we think
he wanted in a particular phrase/sound/tone...etc. The original post
asked if we should be presenting the notes that Mozart wrote......even if
it inolves an instrument that has only begun to be manufactured again and
is expensive (or if one knows the trick to extending a Bb clarinet with a
low Eb to a D!) or if we should just go ahead and play the edition
everyone has used for nearly 100 years (which is clearly NOT what Mozart
specified).
