I used those gloves years ago also, then tried electrical tape which is not
enough cushion. When I was in college, I had no $ and used to buy a
bicycle tire repair kit for $1.20 (which lasted a year) and cut my own
patches. I then rubber cemented them onto my mouthpiece and if that didn't
work, super glued them to electrical tape! They were thick and firm, but I
have to wonder about the nutritional value... Now I use Runyon (Selmer)
which cones in two thickness'. The clear are thin and very firm and the
black are thick and a little less firm. They can be cut in half, but I
have not managed to bite through one (2 years) and barely have any teeth
marks! By he way, Yamaha patches seem too soft and don't last long.
