Tuning in the orchestra

I agree with those that say that one has to check other notes as well.
I remember that in the orchestra, I always checked to see if the fifths
and octaves were OK.
This is assuming that the clarinet in general is in tune within itself.
One can not rely on one note to tune.

Some orchestras have a tuning box to give the note A because of
complaints from various sections about the oboe A being too arbitrary.

By the way, when I play with piano, or the pupils play with piano, I
have them tune to open throat G.
The reason: if one tunes to A, (the long note on the clarinet) one might
be tempted to start pulling out and it usually ends up with the throat
notes being flat.
Again, all this is assuming that the clarinet in general is in tune
within itself.
