I've been reading this list long enough to conclude that there are people
who believe that ANYTHING can affect tone, including what clothing you are
wearing and the wattage of your music stand light! I think the most
significant difference patches could possibly make would be a slight
reduction of bone conducted sound getting to the player's ear. To me, they
are worth it. I prefer the clear vinyl ones (Bay, Runyon, Yamaha, etc.)
but it is up to you.
