I was taught that the tongue is on its own the most stedy and reliable and
the focus should be on the accuracy of the fingers. When I came to
realize this, my technical accuracy improved ten fold in a short amount of
time. The most major thing behind fast articulation is AIR. The tendancy
is to focus on fingers and tongue and then air support slacks off. Now
tongue speed can be worked on like finger speed with a meternome....
increasing the tempo on eighth notes and sixteenth notes....concentraiting
on tongue position. Tip of tongue to tip (not edge) of reed. This is the
drawback of anchor tongueing. Very very few people can quickly anchor tongue.
This all is what I have heard preached at so many master classes and have
tried to implement myself.
