A few friends and I recently formed a wind quintet... Right now, we're
working on a divertimento by Hayden, arranged for wind quintet.
I've found the arrangment in Sneezy:
>Composer : Haydn,Joseph (Franz Joseph) (1732-1809)
>Title : Divertimenti, H. II, 46, Bb major
>Type : Quintet
>Composer's Sex : Male
>Date :
>Instrumentation : clarinet, flute, oboe, horn, bassoon
>Arranger :
>Publisher : Boosey & Hawkes(1), T. Presser(2), Editio Musica
Budapesta,
>Grade :
>Comments : (1) Arr. by Harold Perry Nice arrangement of the Haydn
> : Divertimento which includes Haydn's arrangement of the
> : "Chorale St. Antoni", which Brahms used for his famous
> : variations. There's a bad CD recording of it by the
> : Stuttgarter Blaserquintett on the Pilz Vienna Master
> : Series 160119 with works by Reicha, Danzi and Lickl.
> : (2) arranged by the Philadelphia Woodwind Quintet
Is there anywhere I can get more information about the piece? For example,
was it orginially written for wind quintet, or for a string ensemble? (the
latter is more likely, I'd guess)
Thanks,
Terri
