It's interesting your bring this point up because in most transcriptions
from orchestra to wind ensemble the clarinet picks up the violin part.
Currently, our school ensemble is tackling The Marriage of Figaro
Overture. It's a fairly interesting piece and the clarinets carry the
melody throughout, simply because we have the violin part almost
verbatim.
