This concerto was written a couple of years ago and then revised for
Lawrie Bloom two years ago....he performed ith with the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra with James DePriest (Oregon Symphony) conducting. The piece is
so so unbelievabley difficult that it took Lawrie the better part of a
year to learn it. I have a copy of the part (the piano and orchestra
accomp. is rental only)......and after some false starts, I am well into
it. However....You must have a right hand and a left hand pinky low D in
order to play the piece (as well as the extension to low C). You also
must have high G#, G, and A altissimo available to you with trills to
notes above those.....very fast arpeggiated sections, and wicked low note
combinations. The piece is a terrific work - very exciting and devilish!
