One of my favorite pieces is "Le Sacre du Printemps" or The Rite of
Spring and as I listen now to that bassoon solo I think that Stravinsky
knew just what he was doing. When it is played well it just sings so
beautifully and captivates that audience, leading them into the ensuing
chaos...

That was probably one of his greatest qualities, challenging the norms
and stretching the limits of meter and range (I only feel sorry for the
choreographers and ballet dancers that had to make sense of it all).
Speaking of Stravinsky, I'd like to take a look at his Three Pieces some
time, does anyone have any opinions on which editions would be better,
or performance comments in general?
