None with which I am familiar employ such persons. Historical
research and specifics regarding performance practice are left to the
conductors, soloists, and the orchestra members themselves. The people
that write the program notes usually are not directly involved with the
performances themselves.
Has anyone else on the list actually performed this opera? My
copy of the score lists bassetklarinet and the range goes down into that
register, but the copy of the part I have from a concert aria performance
is for the regular Bb soprano. It could be that he just played what was
in front of him on the stand.
