If I remember correctly the music was by Philip Glass, one of his earlier
works... Powaqqatsi was the sequel to Koyaanisqatsi and they're both worth
seeing repeatedly, imho.

also if I remember correctly, the music is not particularly dissonant - he
uses very traditional chord progressions, just drawn out over 20 minutes
instead of 20 seconds. Did you see the film along with the music? It's one
of the best music-movie matches ever, it might not change your opinion of
the music, but... now that I think of it you might find the movie
nauseating too! ;-}
