Yes, it is "our job to be the music history police." What does it say about
the state of professional musicianship if one does not "have the time" to
properly research what music is being played? Ricardo may not have
chosen to play it on the correct clarinet but that is no excuse for not
realizing what the part actually calls for. Being principal clarinet in the
Met orchestra makes one's responsibility to that end even greater.

As to being "busy" - It is just that, an excuse. Sorry, no sympathy here.
