Music really seems to affect human beings physically. Late saturday night
last week I saw a program on the swedish national TV on J. Sibelius
Finlandia. At the University of Uppsala they performed a test on about 30
persons. The test was rather similar to using a lie-detector with electro=
des
attached to different parts of the body measuring pulse, sweat and so for=
th.
Since the people tested came from all over the world and had little or no=
ne
knowlege of the history of Finlandia and its connection to different wars
that Finland has been involved in, it was amazing to see that already aft=
er
some 4 to 5 tones the pulse frequency raised to about 2 times as compared=
to
the resting . Also the other parameters like sweat and electric activity =
in
the brain increased. There was one finnish war veteran participating, but
there was no significant difference between him and the others. As far as=
I
understood the experiment has been repeated at other places with the same
result. Thus it is possible that music really affect humans well-being.
