Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that. Boredom and spit.
I can see how that might get to somebody after a while.
Imagine how it might have gone if he'd played the note
on clarinet and condensation started to clog one of
the toneholes. I wonder if that would disqualify the
attempt at that point, because the note had to stay
clear and within a certain intonation and decibel range.
Who established these guidelines in the first place?
